Vocabulary

The first level of the French course covers the levels A1 and A2 of the Common European Framework - the basic level. The student can understand familiar words and basic phrases related to him, his family and close friends when someone talks to him slowly and clearly. He can understand familiar names, words and simple sentences, for example signs, posters or catalogs. He can communicate with simple phrases in case that person is prepared to repeat slowlier what he said or to paraphrase his words. He can ask simple questions and respond to them when topics are familiar to him. He can use simple phrases and sentences to describe where he lives, and people he knows. He can write a short text on a postcard. He can fill his name, nationality, address or other personal information in an administrative form.

Grammar

After completing a French course first level, students are expected to have the following grammar knowledge:

  • Present tense of the indicative mood. Conjugation of the verbs of first, second and third group;
  • Personal Pronouns;
  • Definite / indefinite / partial article for male, female, plural
  • Independent personal pronouns
  • Demonstrative and possessive adjectives
  • Reflexive verbs
  • Command form
  • Past complex tense, the past participle and sequence of the participle
  • Past imperfect tense
  • Present continuing tense
  • Near Future tense and Future simple tense
  • Transforming direct into indirect speech (present tense)
  • Personal pronouns, direct objects and personal pronouns, indirect objects
  • Adverbial pronouns
  • Relative pronouns
  • Comparative and superlative adjectives (quantitative and qualitative) and adverbs
  • Forming adverbs
